Nokia 2690 Review

 Although it is labeled as a low-budget phone, the Nokia 2690 is one of those phones that seem to support what they have to offer. With a host of features that are usually included in the medium ranged from mobile phones, the Nokia 2690 is also looking very nice.

Launched a month after Nokia 2220 slide, 2690 model has the same emerging markets, where applications such as Nokia Life Tools have become a necessity. Therefore, depending on your location, Nokia 2690 may or may not come with Nokia Life Tools, but somehow the camera is definitely worth the money if you want to spend a few dollars for a phone.

Design

The Nokia 2690 is a medium sized, thin phone, which is usually perfect for all budgets. Candybar Nokia 2690 is fully compatible with GPRS and EDGE class 10. Benchmarks showed that performance was pretty average when it comes to data transfer speeds (EDGE 149 kbit / s download and upload 70Kbit / s) but can vary greatly depending on location and carrier.

The phone has Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP support, and microUSB connectivity. Synchronization with PC is possible as long as you get a microUSB cable.

In terms of messaging, candybar accepts standard text messages, MMS and emails. The native mail client works with POP3, SMTP and IMAP4.

Quad-band (GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900) network compatible candybar has a good GSM signal reception. The sound quality is above average at both ends. The vibrator is normal, which means not losing too many phone calls, if you like the Silent profile.

Processor and memory

The Nokia 2690 is likely to be powered by ARM9 family-run, up to 220 MHz. Although not the fastest phone on the market, must be greater than its competitors in its class when navigating through menus.

Good

In addition to low prices, candybar includes many features that almost qualify for the budget to mid-line-up: Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP support, microUSB port, a memory slot for microSD cards. I was also happy with the battery life and sound quality of stereo music player and FM radio function.

The bad

I think the only drawback of the device is the integrated camera, but until you can downrate the camera too because it is the main attraction of the phone. It seems that Nokia has not failed with this phone because it offers more than you would expect from a low price.
